A new roof does not always mean the problem is solved
In this house, defects in the old roof allowed water to enter the structure over a long period of time. The roof has now been replaced, but moisture accumulated in the insulation and walls can take months — and sometimes years — to dry out.
The consequences can be seen both on the brick facade outside and inside the house. Once the cause has been removed, it is therefore important not to simply wait, but to check moisture levels, the insulation and the structure — and to rule out the risk of mould.
Plastic sheeting in the attic and compromised insulation
Plastic sheeting has been installed in the attic. It can interfere with roof ventilation and trap moisture, creating a risk of damage to the insulation and timber structure.
The insulation is also covered with waste and other foreign objects, which reduces its performance and makes inspection more difficult. The sheeting should be removed, the attic cleared, and the condition of the structure thoroughly checked.
